Details

The Farady Electric VR‑8 single-phase step‑voltage regulator is a tap‑changing autotransformer. It adjusts distribution line voltage in 32 steps, ranging from a 10% increase (boost) to a 10% decrease (buck), with each step corresponding to approximately 5/8%. For both 60 Hz and 50 Hz systems, the rated voltage range spans from 2,400 V (60 kV BIL) to 34,500 V (200 kV BII). At all ratings, internal potential‑winding taps and external ratio‑correction transformers are provided, enabling each regulator to accommodate multiple system voltages. Smaller kVA ratings feature mounting lugs for pole installation and are equipped with tie‑down devices for substations or platforms. Larger ratings come with pad‑mounted bases and cushioning mounting provisions.
